Andretti in Pennzoil colours for Richmond.
John Andretti will drive the #1 Pennzoil sponsored Chevrolet owned by Dale Earnhardt Incorporated in the majority of the final eleven races of the 2003 NASCAR Winston Cup season starting with next Saturday's Chevy Rock 'n Roll 400 at the Richmond International Raceway.
Andretti will assume driving duties in place of Jeff Green, whose eleven race tenure with the #1 team to date has resulted in just three top 20 finishes, the best of which was a 16th place effort in the Tropicana 400 at Chicagoland.

However Andretti is likely to step aside for at least a couple of races as DEI continues to evaluate the future of the #1 team, which is losing its Pennzoil backing at the end of the year. The former single seater driver was already scheduled to race the #81 DEI/Chance 2 Chevrolet he piloted earlier this year at Indianapolis in September's EA Sports 500 at Talladega and stateside rumours continue to point towards current Busch Series front runner Scott Riggs as being a potential full-time replacement in 2004.
After starting the 2003 season with Steve Park behind the wheel, the #1 team are currently only 30th in Owner's points with just two top-ten finishes all year, one of which came courtesy of road course specialist Ron Fellows at the Infineon Raceway.
