Moore named crew chief for #27 Brewco entry.

Brewco Motorsports general manager Todd Wilkerson has announced that Newt Moore will take over as crew chief of Johnny Sauter's #27 Kleenex Busch Series Chevrolet with immediate effect.

"We are very excited to have Newt on board," Wilkerson said, "Not only does he bring years of experience and knowledge with him, but he is also a proven leader that is driven to win. We are determined to do whatever it takes to field two championship calibre teams in 2004, and Newt is going to be a key player in reaching that goal."

Prior to joining Brewco Motorsports, Moore's racing career started as a teenager when he worked as a mechanic on his father's race team. Later, Moore drove mini-modified cars at Nashville Speedway, where he claimed the track championship in 1982 and 1984. Eventually, he stepped out of the car and found himself working as crew chief for Kenny Wallace at Filmar Racing and, later, for Ken Schrader in the NASCAR Winston Cup Series. Moore most recently guided NASCAR veteran Bobby Hamilton to two victories in the Craftsmen Truck Series.

When Brewco first opened its doors in 1995, Newt Moore was one of the first people I called," added team owner Clarence Brewer Jr, "For whatever reason, we couldn't get things worked out back then, but we've both grown over the years and now it seems like the perfect match. Newt is going to be a huge asset for the #27 team, as well as Brewco Motorsports as a whole."
