New Texas race gets title sponsor.
The inaugural autumn NASCAR Nextel Cup race at the Texas Motor Speedway will begin life known as the Dickies 500 as the Fort-Worth circuit continues to attract sponsor dollars from locally based firms.
The inaugural Dickies 500 will be on Sunday November 6th 2005 and will be round 34 of the 36 race Nextel Cup schedule. This will be the first time that the high-speed 1.5-mile tri oval will host two Nextel Cup events in the same year.

"We are pleased to welcome Dickies to our family of sponsors," said speedway president Eddie Gossage. "Their logo is recognized in every corner of the world, yet they're based right here in Fort Worth, Texas. You can't ask for a better combination. They'll be a great promotional partner and we are looking forward to a long-term relationship with them."
"We already know that NASCAR events reach our customers, and now we're kicking it up a notch with the Dickies 500," said Bob Scott, senior vice president of marketing and merchandising for Williamson-Dickie. "So many fans and crew members wear Dickies at tracks around the country that we're called 'the unofficial clothing brand of NASCAR,' which makes the Dickies 500 the perfect titled event for us."
RadioShack and Samsung also renewed a multi-year agreement to continue sponsoring the April NASCAR Nextel Cup race at Texas. Like Dickies, RadioShack is based in Fort Worth.
"This is a special moment for our sport when two successful corporations that are part of the fabric of America choose to build on the success of their own speedway," said Gossage. "Both companies have marketing activities across this country but we're proud that they chose to partner with our sport and support the fans."
Since it was founded in 1922, Dickies has become the most recognizable and trusted global brand of sturdy workwear, denim, outerwear, hunting apparel, school uniforms and work-oriented footwear and accessories. The company already sponsor a team in the NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series.
