After dishing out a dozen or so fines and penalties across the Cup, Busch and Truck garages last week at Daytona, three more Nextel Cup Series crew chiefs were fined at Fontana

Tim Weiss, crew chief of the #73 Raabe Racing Chevrolet driven by rookie Eric McClure, was fined $10,000 for violating Sections 12-4-A (actions detrimental to stock car racing) and 12-4-CC (unapproved third gear transmission ratio) of the NASCAR Nextel Cup Series rule book during the initial inspection process on Friday. McClure failed to qualify for the race.

Also fined were Ken Schrader's crew chief David Hyder for unapproved final drive gear ratio and Kevin Lepage's crew chief Billy Poindexter for an unapproved deck lid. Both fines were levied at $5000 although Poindexter was fined an extra $1,000 for an unapproved fire suppression agent (extinguisher to most people).
