Vickers spins Bliss to win Open.
Brian Vickers pushed Mike Bliss into a spin within sight of the chequered flag of Saturday's Nextel Open at Lowe's Motor Speedway, beating Bliss' broadside machine to the line by a matter of inches.
In a dramatic finish to what had been an enthralling two-segment 30-lap sprint, the right front of Vickers' #25 Hendrick Motorsport Chevrolet made contact with the left rear of Bliss' #0 Haas CNC Racing Chevrolet as the two raced through the tri-oval for the final time.

As Bliss, who had led the majority of the way, fought to keep control of his spinning machine, Vickers jinked by on the outside to win in front of a shocked Charlotte crowd.
Earlier, pole man Bliss had seen off the combined challenge of Travis Kvapil and Kyle Busch and had managed to keep Vickers at bay until the final run to the flag. But instead of moving forward to the million dollar Nextel Challenge, Bliss was left waiting anxiously to hear who had won the Fans Vote. Vickers and his crew meanwhile went to work on repairing the damaged right front fender on his victorious machine.
Behind the top two Kvapil held off fellow Raybestos Rookie of the Year contender Busch for third with Bobby Hamilton Jr rounding out the top five.
While the final ten lap segment was run without incident, save for the final 200 yards, the opening 20-lap segment saw both Scott Riggs and Morgan Shepherd come to grief in turn four.
