New team aiming for Victory with Long.
NASCAR's favourite underdog Carl Long has been signed to drive for a new Nextel Cup team, Victory Motorsports, who are expected to make their Cup Series debuts later this year.
Owned by former NFL player Terance Mathis, Victory Motorsports have also signed African-American racer Morty Buckles to the ARCA/Re Max Series for older Winston/Nextel Cup machines.
Although no date has been set for Victory's debut, they have already unveiled a rather flashy looking website depicting a Dodge Charger with the #94 plate.

While Long will continue his part time Nextel Cup schedule this weekend in Chicagoland with McGlynn Motorsports, the permanently underfunded driver was delighted to be joining a team with the added profile of a former NFL player and former WW Motorsports bosses Jerry Weaver and David Watson on the ownership side.
"Joining Victory Motorsports is like the reunion of a family that has been apart, and now has the opportunity to come together and make some great things happen," said Long, who has made a total of 22 starts in the Nextel Cup series. "I am truly excited about representing this team, I have great support, and an excellent opportunity to excel in NASCAR racing."
