Tracy pleased with NASCAR test.

Former Champ Car World Series Champion Paul Tracy has successfully completed his two day test with Richard Childress Racing's #33 team at the Michigan International Speedway and is now hoping that team boss Childress gives him the thumbs up to race the car in the upcoming GFS Marketplace 400.

The Canadian born single seater star spent Monday and Tuesday turning laps at the two-mile D shaped oval under the guidance of crew chief Bobby Leslie, who was also pleased with what he saw.

The Canadian born single seater star spent Monday and Tuesday turning laps at the two-mile D shaped oval under the guidance of crew chief Bobby Leslie, who was also pleased with what he saw.

"I thought he did a good job," said Leslie at the conclusion of the first day. "He's got a great feel for a race car. He adapted really well to our system of doing things from what he's used to. He knows what it's like now to make a qualifying lap in one of these cars. He did a couple of them."

Tracy was also happy with his progress on the first day, in which he matched the times of Dale Jarrett and Jeremy Mayfield.

"I think it was good," stated the 36 year-old. "I got a couple of qualifying runs in right in the heat of the day, at about 2 o'clock, and we're competitive with everybody else that was trying to go quick at that time. I think the team's pretty happy. We did a couple of long runs at the end of the day. We tried some different shock packages, a set of what Kevin (Harvick) likes, a set of what Clint (Bowyer) and Jeff (Burton) like and could really tell the difference between them so really I think the test was a success so we'll see what Richard (Childress) says."

With the Champ Car World Series inactive on the weekend of August 27th/28th, Tracy is free to contest the 23rd round of 2005 Nextel Cup Championship, providing he gets the thumbs up from Childress.

"I think the team needs to go back to the shop and give Richard a heads-up on how it went," Tracy continued. "I feel like I did a good job. I feel like I gave the team good information and what they were looking for. I learned a lot and we learned a lot together."
