Atlanta to host first major event since tornado.

Atlanta Motor Speedway will open its doors for a competitive event for the first time since suffering extensive damage at the hands of a tornado some two months ago when the facility plays host to the to NOPI Nationals Motorsports Supershow on September 17th/18th.

While the 1.54-mile quad shaped oval has played host to several closed doors Nextel Cup and Craftsman Truck Series tests, the NOPI event will mark the first major spectator event the facility since an F-2 tornado passed through the property on July 6th.

That is our commitment to our fans, to ensure they have an incredible experience every time they visit our venue.

"After the NOPI Nationals, we will have just over one month to put the finishing touches on the facility in preparation for the October 28th/30th Bass Pro Shops MBNA 500 race weekend."

The 2005 NOPI Nationals Motorsports Supershow will include car shows featuring seven divisions with more than 300 classes and more than 6,000 cars, a performance from hip-hop artist Kudzu, Tour 2005, a caravan of import / compact cars, USAC Sound Quality contest, IASCA audio competition, Db Drags competition, Battle of the Bands, Hydraulic Jump-Offs, Scorched Earth Burnout Contest and a High Horsepower Dyno Contest.
