Outlaws ace Kinser to run Talladega ARCA race.

MB2 Motorsports has entered Kraig Kinser in this weekend's ARCA RE/MAX race at Talladega Superspeedway.

The 20-year-old World of Outlaws sprint car star, who won this year's famed Knoxville Nationals in central Iowa, is a member of MB2's driver development programme.

Saturday's Food World 300 will be Kinser's second ARCA race. He qualified on the outside pole and finished eighth in his ARCA debut in August at Michigan International Speedway.

As was the case in Michigan, Kinser's ARCA team in Talladega will be a joint venture between MB2 Motorsports and Andy Hillenburg Racing. Kinser will drive the #10 Chevrolet with sponsorship from CENTRIX Financial, U.S. Army and Checkers/Rally's.

Doug Randolph, MB2's driver development manager, will be Kinser's crew chief. The team will also receive support from members of MB2's #01 and #10 Nextel Cup teams.

"Talladega is an exciting place," said Kinser, who conducted a test session last week at the 2.66-mile oval. "Hopefully I will get the hang of it quickly since we're only going to have one hour of drafting practice on Friday. I am going to need to catch on quickly.

"Right now I am looking forward to the first practice with drafting. This is all new to me, including shifting, pit stops and working with a spotter. We don't shift in the sprint cars nor do we have pit stops and a spotter. But Doug (Randolph) has been a great teacher and I feel I was getting better as the race went on in Michigan."

Kinser said that he has been receiving advice from a number of racing people, including his father and sprint car legend, Steve Kinser, who won an IROC race at Talladega in 1994.

"I'm getting bits and pieces of information about superspeedway racing," said the younger Kinser and 2004 World of Outlaws Rookie of the Year. "But until you go out there and do it yourself, that's when the real learning process begins. I am thrilled to have the opportunity to compete at Talladega."

Kinser, who is ranked fourth in the World of Outlaws driver point standings, will be shuttling from Talladega to Williams Grove, Pennsylvania. where his sprint car team will be competing this weekend. He is scheduled to leave for Williams Grove after Friday's practice and return to Talladega late Friday night and then travel back to Williams Grove following Saturday's ARCA race.
