Kinser on pole for Talladega ARCA battle.

World of Outlaws star Kraig Kinser claimed pole position for Saturday's ARCA RE/MAX race at Talladega Superspeedway.

Driving the #10 U.S. Army/Centrix Financial/Rally's Chevrolet, Kinser dropped the hammer in Thursday's qualifying run, posting the fastest speed of 185.04 miles per hour.

The World of Outlaws sprint car star is competing in only his second ARCA race. At his ARCA debut in August at Michigan International Speedway, he qualified second and finished eighth in the race.

"This is exciting," said Kinser. "We knew we had a good car and it was just a matter of getting the handling down. I just let it rip."

Kinser, the 20-year-old son of sprint car legend Steve Kinser, said that his immediate focus is Friday's practice session, which will be his first experience in superspeedway drafting.

"This is all new to me, so I'm just going to take it easy out there and get as much quality drafting time as I can," said Kinser. "I'm surrounded by a great team and that is comforting."

Kinser's ARCA team is a joint venture between MB2 Motorsports and Andy Hillenburg Racing. Doug Randolph, MB2's driver development manager, is handling the crew chief duties with support from members of MB2's #01 and #10 Nextel Cup teams.

Kinser, who is ranked fourth in the World of Outlaws driver point standings, will be shuttling between Talladega and Williams Grove, Pennsylvania where his sprint car team is competing this weekend. He will jet Williams Grove after Friday's practice and return to Talladega late Friday night. Following Saturday's ARCA race, he will head back to Williams Grove for the sprint car main feature.
