Hendrick Motorsports Jimmie Johnson and Hall of Fame Racing's Terry Labonte both had their Daytona 500 Bud Pole qualifying times disallowed after failing post-qualifying inspection on Sunday.

Johnson, who set fifth fastest time in his #48 Lowe's Chevrolet, failed to pass NASCAR's post qualifying template inspection when officials discovered that an illegal set-up adjuster bar had been added to the rear of Johnson's car. Johnson and his crew chief Chad Knaus could both face penalties from NASCAR and will have to start from the rear of the grid in his Gatorade 150 qualifying race on Thursday.

Labonte's car, which qualified 28th fastest, was discovered to have an illegal carburettor modification and also had its time disallowed. Like Johnson, Labonte will have to start at the rear of the grid aboard his #96 Hall of Fame Racing Chevrolet in Thursday's qualifying race.

However despite their indiscretions, both teams will still automatically qualify for next Sunday's Daytona 500 thanks to owner points in Johnson's case and Labonte's status as a double Nextel Cup Series champion.
