Spencer to replace Sherman at BAM.
Raybestos Rookie of the Year candidate Brent Sherman has been replaced by veteran Jimmy Spencer for this weekend's DirecTV 500 at the half-mile Martinsville Speedway.
Sherman, who is being 'rested' by the #49 BAM Racing team after falling out of the top 35 in owner points following the fifth round of the Nextel Cup Championship last weekend, had a shaky outing last Sunday at the Bristol Motor Speedway.

Spencer, who is something of a short track expert, will be faced with the task of getting the #49 Serta backed Dodge into the starting field by virtue of his qualifying time. Sherman, who qualified for the first five races of the year automatically by virtue of Ken Schrader's efforts in 2005, hasn't started or finished higher than 30th in any of the four races following the Daytona 500.
Following Sherman's 41st place finish last Sunday, the #49 team find themselves 40th in the owner points, more than 80 adrift of the top 35.
