Johnson's team still wins at Lowe's.
Jimmie Johnson may have seen his Nextel Cup winning streak at the Lowe's Motor Speedway end on Sunday night when Kasey Kahne beat him to the chequered flag in the Coca Cola 600 but his #48 Hendrick Motorsports pit crew did get a victory.
For the third time this season Johnson's #48 Chad Knaus led pit crew won the Checkers/Rally's Drive-Through Pit Stop Challenge by spending the least amount of time on pit road during Sunday's marathon 400-lap, 15-pit stop race at the 1.5-mile Lowe's oval.
Johnson's crew spent 558.658 seconds on pit road helping Johnson to his ninth top ten finish in just ten career Cup Series starts at the track formerly known as the Charlotte Motor Speedway.
"The #48 Lowe's Chevrolet pit crew has been solid all season," said pit crew coach Matt Clark. "With the hard tyres and small fuel cells at Lowe's Motor Speedway, we knew we would have a high number of pit stops. The crew did a great job handling the various adjustments over the course of the race. Their quick work in the pits contributed to the team's second-place finish."
The #48 team also picked up pit crew challenge wins at Daytona International Speedway and California Speedway in February and now leads the season-long standings.
