Mayfield returns for final two rounds.
Jeremy Mayfield will return to the Nextel Cup Series for the final two races of the 2006 season for James Finch's Phoenix Racing team.
Mayfield, who has sat out much of the second half of the season following his rather acrimonious departure from Evernham Motorsport, has already signed a deal with Bill Davis Racing for the 2007 season but will try and qualify the #09 Miccosukee Gaming Dodge for the races at Phoenix and Homestead.

Having made just three Cup Series starts so far in 2006, the #09 team are well outside the top 35 in NASCAR owner points, giving Mayfield some practice in the art of trying to qualify for the races via his qualifying speed, something he will need to do for at least the first five races of the 2007 season with the #23 BDR team.
