NW200: McWilliams starts from pole in Supertwin class

Jeremy McWilliams will start the North West 200 Supertwin races from pole position after Thursday's final session was held in wet conditions.

KMR Kawasaki rider McWilliams' fastest time from the drier session on Tuesday stands as the overall best lap at 104.778mph.

The former Grand Prix rider is joined on the front row by team-mate Michael Rutter, who was 0.162s slower on Tuesday.

Third position is taken by Northern Ireland rider William Davison (Hill Contracts Kawasaki), with the top six completed by Jamie Hamilton (KMR Kawasaki), James Hillier (Quattro Plant Kawasaki) and Ivan Lintin (McKinstry Kawasaki).

The race was won in 2012 by Ryan Farquhar, who has now quit racing and runs the KMR Kawasaki team.

McWilliams and Rutter completed a clean sweep for KMR Kawasaki last year, finishing second and third respectively.

The first Supertwin race takes place tonight as part of a new-look race schedule.

The opening Supersport and Superstock races will also be held following final qualifying this evening.

McWilliams also posted the fastest lap in the wet at 99.258mph today with Michael Dunlop next on the McAdoo Kawasaki ER6 at 98.166mph.

Dunlop failed to qualify on Tuesday so his time from in the wet session determines his position on the grid and places him in 13th position.
