TT 2015: Martin joins elite '132 Club' in Senior
Guy Martin missed out on a podium finish for Northern Ireland's Tyco BMW team at the Isle of Man TT, but the Lincolnshire star had the consolation of a flying 132mph lap.
Martin took fourth place in the PokerStars Senior TT on Friday after failing to finish the RST Superbike race when he retired on the first lap.
The 33-year-old, who did seal a podium in the second Monster Energy Supersport race on the Smiths Racing Triumph, clocked 132.398mph on his second lap to join the exclusive new '132 Club' at the TT, two seconds slower than John McGuinness's new outright record of 132.701mph.
Martin, now the fourth fastest rider around the TT course behind McGuiness, Michael Dunlop and James Hillier, said: "I was with Hutchy on the road and thought he was challenging for the win, which possibly cost me a good shot at third place, as I didn't want to start dicing with him and messing up his race.
"But no excuses, we were beaten on the day by the better man, but my bike was just mint. There are places we could improve of course, but from Ramsey to the start-finish - there wasn't a better bike on the circuit."
