The Newcastle promotion are once again pleased to announce the return of young Northumberland-based teenager Jamie Robertson.

He becomes Newcastle's A-grade reserve for the whole of next year thanks to efforts by George English and the rest of the co-promoters to have him added to that category after his name didn't originally appear on last month's initial listings.

This will be Jamie's 5th season at Brough Park after beginning his career with the Gems' inaugural Conference League year in 2002, riding for both the Diamonds and Gems in 2003 and 2004 and then just for the Diamonds in 2005 while making a few appearances in Oxford's Conference League winning side.

Newcastle are now restricted to just one C-grade reserve to partner Jamie under the laws of the new rules which state either an A and C combination or two B grade reserves as the strongest possibilities any Premier League club can use in 2006 with only a handful of commonwealth youngsters who have already ridden at this level being allowed to join an otherwise all British line-up of just over 50 riders spread across the three grading groups.

Jamie Robertson said:"I'm happy to be riding again for Newcastle and it's going to be a big year for anyone like myself with these new reserve rules.

"All the B and C grade reserves are going to want to beat me while I need to prove I can step up to the main body of the team in future years."

George English added:"It's been a key part of our teambuilding to make sure we could use Jamie as our A grade reserve as that position is going to be vital for every club next season.

"He had a great run towards the end of this year, especially in our home meetings, and I know he wants to force his way into the Great Britain under-21 side as well."
