The 30th Annual World Championship ICE Racing Series Grand Finale will top off a very special season on April 22nd & 23rd in San Juan, Puerto Rico. The last two World Championship Points Rounds will take place at the beautiful Coliseo de Puerto Rico.
The 2006 World Champions will be crowned in both professional divisions of ice racing including the all new Manufacturers World Cup Motorcycles and the Unlimited Outlaw Quads. The world's top ice racers will be competing headed up by World Championship points leaders in both divisions. "Showtime" Johnny Murphree from the USA will be trying to win the title in the Manufacturers World Cup Bikes. These bikes are very powerful, state-of-the-art racing machines manufactured by the world's major factories. Johnny is also well known as one of the stars of last summer's X-Games SuperMoto Championship.
Murphree, who races for Honda, holds a slim points lead over fellow American and arch rival Shaun Russell, who also rides for Honda. It's either rider's World Championship to win or lose in San Juan.
Canada's World Champion ice racer Dick Matei will be going for his second world title in the Pro Outlaw Quad Division. The Outlaw Quads are highly modified, anything goes 4-wheel ATV's. They are often referred to as "the race cars you sit on - not in!"
Also being invited to Puerto Rico are select top competitors in the nitro burning open X-KART Division as well as the always entertaining and exciting Rocket Bar Stools on ice. Local Puerto Rican racers are also expected to compete in pro and amateur classes.
