Change of car for Onslow-Cole, White
Tom Onslow-Cole and Strata21 team-mate Paul White will race an Aston Martin V12 Vantage GT3 in the second round of the 2014 British GT Championship over the Bank Holiday weekend (4-5 May).
The pair contested the opening round of the championship in a Nissan GT-R NISMO GT3, but will switch to the Milltek Sport and Casio Edifice-liveried Aston Martin in this weekend's event at Rockingham.
"Paul and I both have experience in the Aston Martin and now the Strata21 Vantage GT3 has become available, it makes sense for us to use it," Onslow-Cole commented, "It's the car that got me addicted to GT racing so I'm excited to be back out in it again this weekend."
Strata21's Vantage GT3 had been tied up in commitments at the N?rburgring and was, until recently, unavailable for the first half of the season. However, hard-work by the team at Aston Martin Racing has meant that the car is ready ahead of schedule. However, the change of car does not rule out a return to the Nissan should the need arise.
"It was great news to hear that the Strata21 Vantage GT3 is ready for Tom and I to use," White added, "We had a great time racing the Nissan at Oulton Park and we plan to run the car again at some point this year - our relationship with JRM and JMH Automotive is still ongoing. However, it would be silly not to use our Aston Martin in the British GT Championship. It's a championship-winning car and we plan to make a full assault on the 2014 title."
Although 2014 is Strata21's debut season in British GT, Rockingham won't be the first outing in the Vantage GT3 for Onslow-Cole and White, as the pair raced in the MSA British Endurance Championship last July alongside Aston Martin Racing team principal John Gaw.
"It's great to have Tom and Paul back in the Vantage GT3," Gaw commented, "They are a great pairing that can challenge for the championship, so it's good to have them in the car. We look forward to seeing them race at Rockingham this weekend."
The Rockingham round comprises a single two-hour race, which takes place on Monday [5 May].
"Rockingham has a great mix of corners, the infield is technical and tight and the banking at turn one is definitely a feature that's unique," Onslow-Cole added, "I can't wait to let rip in the Aston Martin and get stuck into one of the longer races of the British GT Championship calendar."
