WEC: Rebellion to miss opening rounds
Rebellion Racing's bid to repeat its FIA World Endurance Championship success of a year ago has taken an early hit with the news that the team will skip the first two rounds of the 2015 season.
For their eighth consecutive year in Le Mans Prototypes, and fourth in the WEC, the Swiss team has switched its two Rebellion R-One LMP-1 cars from Toyota to AER twin-turbo engines but, as the decision to change was only made deep into the off-season, the team has admitted that it will not be ready in time for either the FIA WEC Prologue at Circuit Paul Ricard or the opening rounds at Silverstone and Spa-Francorchamps.
"We are a little late out of the starting blocks this year, but we firmly believe that our 2015 LMP1 cars will be even more competitive, so we are looking forward to getting the cars onto the tracks soon," team manager Bart Hayden conceded.
