Calderon to make Porsche Supercup debut in Mexico

Alfa Romeo Formula 1 test driver Tatiana Calderon will make her Porsche Supercup debut this weekend in support of the Mexican Grand Prix at the Autodromo Hermanos Rodriguez.

Calderon, 26, has been racing full-time in Formula 2 through 2019 alongside her development role with Alfa Romeo that saw her test the former Sauber team’s 2013-spec F1 car earlier this year at Paul Ricard.

Calderon’s final F2 round of the year is not for another month in Abu Dhabi, but the Colombian will now make her sports car racing debut in the Porsche Supercup this weekend in Mexico.

Calderon’s final F2 round of the year is not for another month in Abu Dhabi, but the Colombian will now make her sports car racing debut in the Porsche Supercup this weekend in Mexico.

Through backer Escuderia Telmex, Calderon will enter the season finale for the spec-series with Team Project 1, which claimed victory at the 24 Hours of Le Mans earlier this year and in the FIA World Endurance Championship’s GTE-Am class through the 2018-19 season.

It marks a return to the circuit where Calderon enjoyed her first taste of an F1 car when she tested Sauber’s C37 last October.

“I am very happy to return to Mexico and I will always have the memory of my debut in a Formula 1 at the Autodromo Hermanos Rodriguez with Alfa Romeo Racing,” said Calderon.

“This time I am very happy to return to this circuit to compete in the Porsche Supercup. It will be a great challenge for me because it is something very different from the cars in which I have specialized, but I will enjoy it very much.

“Running support of the F1 Grand Prix in Mexico will feel like running at home.”
