Luffy bound for Britek.

2005 Stone Brothers Racing endurance driver Warren Luff has secured a full-time drive at Jason Bright's Britek Motorsport team for this year's V8 Supercar Championship Series.

Sporting a reduced main-game campaign, Britek Motorsport will field a sole Fujitsu Racing entry for Luff in the premier class of Australian Touring Cars, with 2005 team member Jose Fernandez continuing to drive a Fujitsu-backed Falcon in the newly renamed Fujitsu V8 Series.

Despite the re-design and rebuilding of both team Falcons, Britek will not field a second car in the V8 Supercar Championship with its other Level Two franchise, unless sufficient backing can be acquired.

Luff has an impressive resume in racing V8 Supercars. After winning a V8Brute title in 2003, Luff was scooped up by Dick Johnson Racing to drive the #18 Shell Helix Ford for the 2004 V8 Supercar Championship. When dropped by DJR to make way for Glenn Seton, Luff spearheaded Paul Cruickshank Racing's revamped tier-two series assault - eventually finishing second in the title fight to the dominant Dean Canto - and was regarded the top candidate to drive alongside Marcos Ambrose at Bathurst, when Stone Brothers Racing signed him as co-driver for the Pirtek BA Falcon.

With Michael Caruso replacing Luff in the lead Paul Cruickshank Racing Ford for 2006, Luff looked unlikely to secure another drive in the Fujitsu series, yet it is ironic that he was the man to drive in place of erstwhile Britek pilot, Steve Owen, for this year's series.

"Signing with Fujitsu Racing and Britek Motorsport is a great opportunity for me to join a growing team with big plans for the future," said Luff

"I've been very impressed with the discussions I've had with the team - both prior to and since we agreed to terms - and the attitude of everyone at Britek is extremely positive. I'm sure we'll surprise a few teams this year."

Equally excited is Britek Motorsport's General Manager Chris Jewel, who anticipates an improved year for Fujitsu Racing in 2006.

"Warren is a true professional and fully deserves the chance to prove his worth as a permanent part of the V8 Supercar Series," said Jewell.

"Our dealings were devoid of needless complications and Warren is just what we need - fast, professional, fit, enthusiastic and completely in touch with where we are aiming to be in our second year. The experience he gained at DJR, SBR and PCR will stand him in great stead and he has the full support of the entire Fujitsu team."

Luff's signing to drive the #25 Fujitsu Falcon in 2006 also strengthens speculation that former Britek driver Steve Owen will join a one-car operation, run by Rod Nash Racing.

Both Warren Luff and Jose Fernandez will race at the first round of the V8 Supercar Championship, at the Clipsal 500 Adelaide, a street race that also hosts support
