Glenfords Racing's Jonathon Webb will step into the #20 Paul Cruickshank Racing Falcon alongside regular V8 Supercar Championship driver Marcus Marshall for Bathurst and Sandown.
At this stage, Webb is the only named debutant for the 2006 V8 Supercar endurance races at Sandown Park and Mount Panorama, and could very easily be the only rookie on the grid come September. The decision to sign Webb, PCR's representative in the Australian Porsche Carrera Cup Championship, to the number-two position alongside ex-Champ Car driver Marcus Marshall is one that team owner Paul Cruickshank is acutely aware of.
"We want to bring young talent through our organisation and give them opportunities in the biggest races of them all. Jonathon has done everything right to earn this spot, not just this season but since he joined PCR (Paul Cruickshank Racing) in our first season, so the timing is perfect for all involved," said Cruickshank.
"Jonathon has had two tests in the Glenfords AEG V8 and was impressive in a range of dry and wet conditions, which is important given the unpredictable weather conditions at two tracks he will be racing at."
Davison will not be the only Carrera Cup driver driving in the enduro's either. Porche teammate Alex Davison is driving for Dick Johnson Racing, whilst Craig Barid has been assigned to WPS Racing. The youngster was excited by his new opportunity in V8 Supercars.
"This is a dream come true. As a driver you dream of racing the V8's around Bathurst in 'the Great Race' and I can't thank Paul and the Glenfords Racing crew for this awesome opportunity."
Jonathon Webb is competing in the V8 Supercar support races this weekend - whilst V8 team leader Marcus Marshall races for Glenford's in the three V8 sprint races.
