Sony Pictures Releasing and Britek Motorsport's operation have joined forces in a three-round sponsorship package that will see the two Fujitsu BA Falcons branded with Talledega Nights signage for the Oran Park, Sandown and Bathurst rounds of the V8 Supercar Championship Series.
The new comedy film, 'Talledega Nights: The Ballad of Ricky Bobby', stars Will Ferrell of Anchorman fame and will be promoted on the rear-quarter panel of both Fujitsu Fords for three forthcoming rounds. The deal which comes shortly after the announcement of V8 superstar Jason Bright joining the team for the 2007 series, is just another portion of good news for the minnow of V8 Supercar racing.
"The involvement of Sony Pictures Releasing allows them to take advantage of the 18-39 demographic, creating "money can't buy" promotions for cinema movie-goers who aren't familiar with motorsport. The unique nature of our involvement will also be a lot of fun for the team," said Britek Sponsorship Manager, Michael Treloar.
The NASCAR-styled movie will feature strongly in Britek Motorsport's endurance campaign, with crewmembers set to wear clothing similar to that of Ricky Bobby's team in the movie.
Sony Pictures' National Marketing Manager Libby Rhys-Jones said that the move by the company to become involved in V8 Supercar racing was a logical opportunity by integrating motorsport with motorsport.
"Sony Pictures Releasing is thrilled to be a sponsor of the Fujitsu Racing V8 Supercar Team for Oran Park, Sandown and Bathurst, 2006. The association is a unique and fun way for us to market our hilarious new Will Ferrell NASCAR comedy, 'Talladega Nights: The Ballad of Ricky Bobby', to an in built motorsport loving audience."
Fujitsu Racing will compete in the Bigpond 400 at Queensland Raceway this month, before introducing its new Sony-partnership at Oran Park, Bathurst and Sandown.
