Lorenzo Savadori has shot to the top of the practice times in the second session at Misano leading a Milwaukee Aprilia 1-2.

Savadori jumped through the top 10 with a flying lap in the closing minutes of the FP2 session to take top spot off Aprilia teammate Eugene Laverty, fresh from his podium in race two at Laguna Seca, to show promising pace for the Italian manufacturer at its home round.

Lorenzo Savadori has shot to the top of the practice times in the second session at Misano leading a Milwaukee Aprilia 1-2.

Savadori jumped through the top 10 with a flying lap in the closing minutes of the FP2 session to take top spot off Aprilia teammate Eugene Laverty, fresh from his podium in race two at Laguna Seca, to show promising pace for the Italian manufacturer at its home round.

The Aprilia speed saw Jonathan Rea pushed down to third on the time for Kawasaki, having led the morning session, while Althea BMW’s Loris Baz was another to notch up eye-catching gains in FP2 to take fourth on the combined times.

Alex Lowes held on to fifth place for Pata Yamaha ahead of Red Bull Honda’s Leon Camier while Marco Melandri, a winner at Misano 12 months ago, being pushed back to seventh place for Aruba.it Racing Ducati.

Xavi Fores (Barni Ducati) and Chaz Davies (Aruba.it Racing Ducati) have kept hold of their top ten spots while Tom Sykes has been shuffled on to the bubble in tenth spot with only the top 10 automatically going into Superpole 2 following Friday’s combined free practice times.

Michael Ruben Rinaldi, back in action after sitting out Laguna Seca, is chasing Sykes for the junior factory Ducati squad ahead of Donington Park double winner Michael van der Mark with the Pata Yamaha rider down in 12th.
