The 2009 British Superbike Champion, who has been blighted by injuries during his career, is enduring a particularly painful 2019 season after first breaking his tibia in an accident in Thailand before damaging ligaments in the AC joint of his shoulder at Imola.
both occasions Moriwaki Althea Honda rider Camier was the innocent victim of being caught up in an accident happening ahead of him, which he admits adds to the frustration of his situation.
“I've made some good progress with the shoulder over the past month but ligaments are not a quick fix. My doctor is happy with the recovery so far, and the level of movement is better but I'm lacking a lot of strength especially in certain positions. I am working daily with my physio and trainer to get back to full strength as quickly as possible.
“This has been a frustrating year because I’ve had two injuries sustained after getting caught up in other riders' crashes, in Thailand where I broke the top of the tibia and in Imola breaking the ligaments in the AC joint in the shoulder.
“I just want to get back on the bike again and see if we can make some progress. I want to thank Honda and the team, I'm very grateful for their support and I will be back as soon as possible!”
Having already been forced to miss the Imola and Jerez races, Camier will also skip this weekend’s Misano WorldSBK round with a view to returning to action on home soil at Donington Park.
