Yukio Kagayama

2008: Despite his nightmare 2007 season, Suzuki keeps faith in Kagayama partly thanks to his Suzuka win - and he remains in the Alstare outfit, alongside new team-mate Fonsi Nieto and German Max Neukirchner.

2007: Stays at Alstare Suzuki where he is joined by former MotoGP star Max Biaggi. Takes a best finish of fourth at the Qatar season opener, but breaks bones during qualifying next time out at Phillip Island and is knocked out during Friday practice for round three at Donington Park. Struggles through the next four rounds before taking his first podium of the season with third place in race one at Misano. Scores a further third place next time out at Brno but further accidents follow and Yuki is forced to miss the final three rounds - at Lausitz, Vallelunga and Magny Cours - due to hand and knee injuries. Finishes the season just 13th in the WSBK championship, but delights Suzuki by winning the Suzuka 8 Hours endurance race in late July.

2006: Remains with Alstare Suzuki alongside reigning world champion Corser. Battling Haga for victory on last lap of season opening race only for his 'friend' to take them both out. Nightmare continues as he only scores points in three of first eight races but bounces back in style with a double victory at Brno (round seven). That kick starts his season and the Japanese secures his seat for 2007 with a further win and podium from the remaining five races. Placed just seventh in points but scored one more win than Corser.

2005: Suzuki factory moves him to Alstare Suzuki WSBK team. Wins race two of opening round in Qatar, but doesn't win again and often struggles to match team-mate Troy Corser. Takes 3 poles and 8 podiums on way to 4th in championship standings.

2004: Heroic comeback to racing in British Superbikes with Rizla Suzuki, only a few weeks after being discharged from hospital. Third in championship.

2003: British Superbike championship with Rizla Suzuki, three victories. Reserve rider for Suzuki MotoGP team. Near fatal accident at Cadwell Park.

2002: All Japan Superbikes on prototype GSV-R (MotoGP). Three wins, three second places - all non points scoring.

2001: All Japan Superbikes - 4th
