Danny Webb calls on fan support for WSS bid

Danny Webb has called on fans to help contribute to securing a ride with the CIA Insurance PTR Honda team in the 2015 World Supersport Championship.

The former GP rider has been competing in the British Supersport Championship and selected road races in 2014, but after a year hampered by injury he has now launched a formal bid to ride in the World Supersport Championship with CIA Insurance PTR, with whom he contested a handful of races in 2013.

However, though title sponsors CIA Insurance are contributing a significant amount to the cost of Webb's place in the team, he has called on fans to help him make up the rest. In return for donations, a series of exclusive rewards are being offered.

"It is incredibly tough to get anywhere in racing without money," he said. "I am asking all my Twitter and Facebook friends to sponsor me. I'm asking them to get their Twitter and Facebook contacts plus family and friends involved too.

"And I really do mean you'll be part of the team. I'm talking name on the garage boards and exclusive benefits all season long. If I get on the Championship podium - which is a realistic goal - then I'm going to throw a party and all my supporters will be invited and I'll be buying the first drinks as a big thank you.

"If you like racing then get behind me for the biggest racing adventure of our lives, let's try and win the World Championship together."

CIA Insurance Honda's Simon Buckmaster is also behind the crowd-funding idea and is keen to have Webb in his team for 2015.

"Racing is very different from when I was a rider and it is sadly more about money than talent right now which is where it is so unfair on Danny.

"We approached Danny as we believe he has the talent to win the World Supersport Championship and go far. We are prepared to put our money where our mouth is and hope that Danny's supporters will do the same. This is crowd sponsorship and we will give back benefits to make it worthwhile."

Contribution structure
1: ?20 gets your name on the team garage boards and website as a sponsor; and a signed poster from Danny (personalised if wished). If Danny makes it to the top 3 in the Championship then all sponsors will be invited to an exclusive end of season party to meet Danny and team with the first drink already bought as a thank you. On top of this you'll get exclusive race previews, practice, qualifying and race day news, videos and top quality pictures. There will also be exclusive events through the year that you can attend - such as workshop tours hosted by Danny himself (first one scheduled for 20th December at the team workshop in Louth, Lincolnshire).

3: ?200 gets you all of the above and two paddock passes to the British WSB round at Donington Park.
