Kennedy steps in for injured Hill for Thailand

Jack Kennedy will fill in for the injured Stefan Hill for the Thailand round in the World Supersport championship.

Kennedy, who has 26 career race starts in the World Supersport championship, will replace Hill at the Buriram circuit in Thailand next week as the British rider continues to recover from surgery on his injured wrist suffered at the 2018 season opener in Australia last month.

With Hill opting to sit out the Thailand round in order to return to full fitness at the first European round of the season at Aragon (April 13-15), Kennedy has been drafted in at Profile Racing Triumph having also filled in for Hill for two rounds last year when he was out injured for the Imola and Donington Park rounds.

Kennedy, who impressed on his two-round outing for the British squad last year with 12^th place in Italy before an eye-catching fifth place in the United Kingdom, is relishing the opportunity to shine on the world stage again.

“It’s great to get called up to do another round in the World Supersport championship,” Kennedy said. “I am very happy and excited to ride for Profile Racing at the Thailand Round as we have proven in the past we can do a really good job together.

“Chang International Circuit will be a new track for me but I’ve started on my homework and being already familiar with the Triumph is a big advantage. Thanks to Pete for the great opportunity and to Robin and my team, Colin Appleyard Macadam Racing, for permission and encouragement to go for it.”

Kennedy will return to the British Supersport championship this year with defending champions Colin Appleyard Macadam Racing Yamaha looking to emulate Keith Farmer’s 2017 title.
