Jules Cluzel has ended Lucas Mahias’ run of topping timesheets in the World Supersport championship by setting the fastest lap in final practice in Thailand.
The NRT Yamaha rider’s 1m 37.344s saw him edge out his fellow countryman Mahias by just over one-tenth of a second in the short FP3 session. Federico Caricasulo ensured both GRT Yamaha riders remained in the top three by leapfrogging Randy Krummenacher on the Bardahl Even Bros Yamaha as the Japanese manufacturer continued to dominate the Thailand round.
Local star Thitipong Warokorn, who scored an impressive podium as a replacement rider to Kenan Sofuoglu 12 months ago in Buriram, jumped up to fifth place for the Thailand Racing Kawasaki squad ahead of yet another Yamaha rider Sandro Cortese for Kallio Racing.
Anthony West grabbed seventh on the times in final practice ahead of CIA Landlord Insurance Honda’s Niki Tuuli as Hikari Okubo (Puccetti Kawasaki) and Luke Stapleford (Profile Racing Triumph) rounded out the top 10 contenders in preparation for qualifying.
