Lewis Hamilton wins 2024 F1 British Grand Prix as it happened

Norris keeping the gap to Hamilton at around 3.3s. Verstappen is consistently slower, dropping to 7.0s behind Hamilton.

Russell is just 1.5s behind Verstappen in the race for third.

"The tyres are degrading a lot," the Dutchman reports.

Norris extends his lead over Hamilton to 3.2s. Verstappen is 4.9s behind in third.

Piastri (yet to pit) ahead of Norris, Hamilton, Verstappen, Russell, Sainz, Hulkenberg, Stroll, Alonso and Tsunoda.

Verstappen and Sainz come in; one lap later, Norris, Hamilton and Russell all stop.

He's now right behind Norris in the fight for the lead.

"It's too early for inters," he reports as Perez and Leclerc are lapped.

Norris is 1.5s ahead of Piastri, while Hamilton is 1.4s off in third.

More rain is on the way.

Leclerc is running 14s off the pace but Ferrari keep him out there on the intermediates.

Norris, Piastri, Hamilton, Russell, Verstappen, Sainz, Hulkenberg, Alonso, Stroll and Tsunoda.

Piastri gets past Hamilton now to make it a 1-2 for McLaren.

Leclerc and Perez have stopped for intermediates - but it looks too dry.

Norris gets past Hamilton into Turn 1 on Lap 20. Piastri gets ahead of Russell now as well.

The McLaren looks rapid in these changeable conditions. 

Hamilton and Russell run wide at Turn 1 which allows Norris to get past the latter.

Hamilton's lead is just 1.3s at the front.

Hamilton overtakes Russell into Stowe as he leads the British Grand Prix.

The rain is coming down now. 

All eyes on the front as Hamilton moves into DRS range of Russell.

Piastri copies his teammate and breezes by Verstappen into Stowe.

Piastri is now in DRS range of the Red Bull driver for fourth. 

"We expect heavy rain now, it's going to happen soon."

Norris uses DRS to get past Verstappen into Stowe as he sets the fastest lap of the race.

Norris is in DRS range of Verstappen in the battle for third. 

Leclerc gets past Stroll into Stowe as he moves into seventh. He's got a 4.2s gap to make up on teammate Sainz.

Verstappen appears to be struggling as he drops to 3.0s behind Hamilton in second.

The gap is stable at the front with Russell 1.4s ahead of Hamilton. Verstappen has now dropped to 2.7s behind the Mercedes duo.

"Rain expected in seven laps. It will last for 10 minutes."

Russell, Hamilton, Verstappen, Norris, Piastri, Sainz, Stroll, Leclerc, Hulkenberg and Alonso.
